Clinical Decision Support Implementation
Clinical Decision Support (CDS) is gaining widespread acceptance as a proven approach to improved quality and patient safety through timely and intelligent clinical information delivery at the point of care. Meaningful Use criteria will likely demand increasing use of CDS; yet CDS must be carefully designed and implemented in order to support clinician efficiency needs and avoid obstructing clinical workflows.
Jacobus helps integrate CDS with advanced clinical applications to enhance clinical workflows in support of overall care objectives. Our approach helps to drive clinician adoption and satisfaction by:
- Defining a long term CDS strategy and implementation plan that supports clinician needs, as well as Meaningful Use and quality requirements
- Establishing clinician support and awareness of CDS capabilities, advantages and best practice through facilitating decisions around standards, workflows, ideal approaches and varying levels of CDS utilization
- Driving CDS implementation through care planning and order set design and build, optimal use of notifications, reminders and alerts, and integration of reference material and diagnostic tools with an eye towards efficient clinician workflows
- Providing education and support during implementation to increase clinician utilization and provide enhancements where necessary
